Lewis elected to the Board of Directors for District VI, 5A/6A for the MAC

Vicksburg native James Lewis has been elected to the Board of Directors for District VI, 5A/6A for the Mississippi Association of Coaches. Lewis, who serves as the Athletics Director for the Vicksburg-Warren School District, will represent District 6 and assist with the annual state-wide conference as well as handle administrative duties for the state’s All-Star games.

Before becoming VWSD’s Athletic Director in 2022, Lewis served as Jim Hill High School’s Head Basketball Coach and Athletics Director. In 2022, he was selected as the MHSAA Region 4-5A boys basketball Coach of the Year.

Lewis started his coaching career in 2013 as an assistant basketball coach at Warren Central Junior High School. He would soon take over the junior high program before being promoted as the ninth-grade Head Coach where he led the Vikings three consecutive Little Six Championships.

Lewis is a graduate of Warren Central High School.
