Mississippi Middle School Teacher Charged with Sexual Battery of a Child

A Mississippi Middle School teacher was arrested for sexual battery of a minor. The crime was reported on August 17 at the Morton Police Department.

MPD eventually called Child Protective Service regarding the claims. 47-year-old former Lake Middle School teacher Mark Jones was arrested on September 5 after a forensic interview was conducted on the child. He is now charged with seven counts of sexual battery of a child by a person of authority.

Jones turned himself into police and Judge Whitney Adams set bail at $500,000 per charge to equal $3.5 million.
