Man Fatally Shot After Entering Ex-Girlfriend’s Home in Mendenhall

Mendenhall, MS – A man was fatally shot after he entered his ex-girlfriend’s home in Mendenhall on Tuesday evening.

According to Simpson County Sheriff Paul Mullins, dispatchers received a call around 7 p.m. on Tuesday from a resident living on the 1400 block of Athens Road. The caller, identified as the ex-girlfriend, informed responders that her ex-boyfriend, later identified as Brian Stinson, who had entered the home carrying a rifle.

Another person present in the home then fatally shot the man.

At this time, no official determination has been made regarding whether the case will be ruled as self-defense or classified as a homicide.

The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) Crime Scene Unit, has launched an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
