Missy Gators crushed Pearl 13-5 on Friday
Vicksburg High School’s softball team achieved their first victory of the season with an impressive 13-5 win over Pearl.
The game kicked off with Trinity McGloster’s double, followed by hits from Harmony Harris and Zion Harvey, resulting in early runs. Jordan Grace then sealed a 4-0 lead with a two-run single. The Lady Pirates managed to
score two runs by the end of the first inning.
Despite solid hits by McGloster, Avery VanNorman, and Harris in the second inning, the score remained 4-2. VanNorman’s single in the third inning brought in two more runs, extending the Missy Gators’ lead to 6-3.
Vicksburg High School dominated the fourth inning, with Grace securing an RBI followed by a two-run single by Jordan Powell. With a 9-3 lead in the fifth inning, Jamia Grace’s double
further extended their advantage to 11-3. Although Pearl managed to score two runs, the Missy Gators maintained control. Late RBls from Jamia and Lili Kister secured Vicksburg’s 13-5 victory under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Briana Knox.
Harris impressed at the plate, going 3 for 5, while Powell (2 RBls), Jordan (2 RBIs), Jamia (3 RBIs), VanNorman (2 RBIs), Harvey(1 RBI) and McGloster all contributed with two hits each. Kistler had one hit. Jordan
delivered a strong performance, striking out nine batters in the game.
The Missy Gators will host Florence on Thursday.
