NAACP to host 23rd Freedom Fund Banquet

Vicksburg NAACP

The Vicksburg NAACP will host the 23rd Annual Freedom Fund Banquet in Vicksburg.

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., our NAACP Vicksburg Branch will host our 23rd Annual Freedom Fund Banquet at the 412th Theater Engineer Command, 1265 Porters Chapel Road. The theme is Thriving Together. Our guest speaker is Dr. C. J. Rhodes, Pastor, Mt Helm Baptist Church (Jackson, MS’s oldest historically African-American congregation). The student winner of our Dr. David Foote Essay Contest will be announced and will read his/her essay. Our Branch Community Service Award will be presented to a worthy community servant. The NAACP Vicksburg Branch Choir, under the direction of Mr. Dwayne Griffin and Mrs. Grace Hicks Brown, will provide the entertainment. The scrumptious meal will be prepared by Tribble’s Catering Service. Please call 601-415-9767 to purchase your $35 dinner ticket.

Founded in 1909 in New York City by Black and White citizens committed to social justice, the NAACP is one of the nation’s largest and strongest civil rights organizations. The NAACP Vicksburg Branch is the oldest branch in the state of Mississippi. Proceeds from the Banquet will enhance our efforts to actively support voter empowerment, civic engagement, protecting and enhancing civil rights, developing youth leaders, investigating problem situations, and accelerating change in key areas, including criminal justice, climate, the economy, education, healthcare, and housing.
