One injured in assault in Vicksburg


One person was injured after an assault that occurred at the Day’s Inn on Warrenton in Vicksburg.
At about 7:50 p.m., a call came into the 911 Call Center reporting one person was cut on the face and was bleeding profusely. A massive response by Vicksburg Police managed 6 units to quickly arrive at the location, the Days Inn on Warrenton.
A man was observed lying on the floor of the lobby of the motel. He was talking and moving his arms while talking to law enforcement officers. The man remained on his back until trained personnel with the Vicksburg Fire Department arrived to assist him.
Engine 7 arrived at the location shortly thereafter along with Fire Medic 80. Firefighters with Engine 7 assisted the man and medics from FM 80 then helped the man to stand up. They then walked him to the ambulance and transported him to an area hospital.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and a large amount of blood was not observed pooling near the injured or on their clothing.
Vicksburg Police are investigating the incident and the Vicksburg Daily News will update this story if more information is made available to us by law enforcement.
