Two Sharkey County Sheriff’s deputies injured in pursuit
Sharkey County, Miss. (VDN) — Two Sharkey County Sheriff’s Deputies have been injured in an accident that happened Sunday evening while pursuing a suspect who failed to yield to law enforcement. The accident shut down Highway 61 in Rolling Fork near its intersection with Parkway Avenue.
In a post on social media, they said, “On behalf of Sheriff Ceaser and the Sharkey County Sheriff’s Department, we ask our community to keep two of our deputies in your thoughts and prayers following a collision that occurred today during a pursuit of a vehicle failing to yield to blue lights by law enforcement officials.
We are grateful for the concern already shown and ask for continued support as they receive care. At this time, a suspect in connection with the incident has been arrested and is currently being held at the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
Details regarding the pursuit and the events leading up to the collision will be released at a later date as the investigation continues. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and prayers for our deputies and their families.”
The roadway has since reopened. No further information is available at this time.
