Police seek suspect in shooting at Clay and Mission in Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — One person has been shot in an incident at the gas station on the corner of Clay and Mission in Vicksburg.
Just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a shooting happened at the Citgo located at Clay and Mission in Vicksburg. Initial reports indicate one person, an as yet unidentified male, was injured in the shooting. That victim then drove themselves to an area hospital.
Several units with the Vicksburg Police Department were at the scene and closed in the area with crime tape. Adam 2, Charlie Hill, was at the scene and confirmed one person had been shot at that location.
Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones released the following statement on the incident:
“On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 7:37 PM, officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Clay Street and Mission 66.
The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound, was able to drive himself to a local hospital for emergency treatment. While receiving care, the victim identified Demarcus Bishop as the individual who shot him. The victim stated that Bishop had an ongoing feud with him over a female.
At this time, Demarcus Bishop is wanted for questioning in connection with this incident. The Vicksburg Police Department is actively working to locate him and urges anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
This was a violent act in our community, and we are pursuing all leads to bring resolution to this case. We ask that anyone with knowledge of Mr. Bishop’s location contact us immediately. Bishop was last seen in blue 4-door sedan.
I urge anyone with information related to this incident or the whereabouts of Demarcus Bishop to come forward. My department is working diligently to ensure the safety of our community and bring accountability in this case. We ask for the public’s help in locating Mr. Bishop so that we can move forward with the investigation.
