PCA came away with a 46-40 win over Tallulah Academy

Porter’s Chapel Academy girl’s basketball team finished Thursday night with a close 46-40 win over Tallulah Academy.
Jae’la Smith took over the first quarter after hitting a 3-pointer which was followed by a few free throws. PCA only allowed five points in the second quarter as Lauren Madison earned a few points from inside the paint while PCA took the 23-13 halftime lead.
Coming out of halftime PCA seemed to have things under control when Sophie Masterson popped a 3-pointer while Emily Muirhead and Marley Bufkin both contributed a couple of points to put the Lady Eagles up 36-23.
Just as PCA had things under control, TA made a comeback after Rachel Florice popped a 3-pointer and Abigail Kennedy hit four shots to narrow the Eagles’ lead to five points.
PCA managed to control the clock in the final few minutes to take home the win to improve to 4-0.
Smith led PCA with 26 points and nine rebounds. Madison added 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Muirhead put up four points. Masterson and Bufkin both finished with three points.
Kennedy led TA with 16 points and Evelyn Morgan scored nine.
“We didn’t play our brand of basketball tonight and they fought harder than us,” PCA Head Coach Casey Fisher said.
PCA will host Union Christian on Friday.
