Peyton Combs signs a cheerleading scholarship to Hinds CC
A celebration was held at Porter’s Chapel Academy on Friday as Peyton Combs signed a cheerleading scholarship with Hinds Community College.
Since an early age, Peyton has been cheering consistently and eventually made the PCA cheer team in the seventh grade under former Coach Nikki Little. She would eventually cheer under Robin Felker where she made many memories on the cheer team over the years.
“All of the blackout pep rallies and especially when our football team won district was one of my favorite memories,” Combs said.
Combs continued to excel in cheering as she was eventually named an All-American at the UCA Camp at Mississippi State University.
After much debate, Peyton decided that Hinds CC. would be the best place for her academic and cheering career.
“It’s more low-key than other schools and I’m a low-key person,” she said jokingly. “I just want to advance all my skills at Hinds and proceed to their schools.”
Hard work and dedication led Combs to being able to cheer beyond high school as she celebrated alongside her supporters. Even though it was her special day, she thanked those who made it possible.
“I want to thank my teammates, Mrs. Robin, my sister, my family, and Nikki Little because it all started with her in the seventh grade,” Peyton said.
Peyton will be majoring in nursing and she is the daughter of Jason Combs and Casey Proctor.
