Port Gibson beat JC in a close game on Friday

Port Gibson High School boy’s basketball team finished Friday night with a 78-74 win over Jefferson County.

The Blue Waves took a 22-16 first quarter lead after Kam Brown knocked down two 3-pointers while Dameon White and Clyde Johnson both hit some key shots. By halftime they were up 36-19 with help coming from Jaylen Hill.

Brown carried the PG to victory with an outstanding second half performance along with Markel Derby.

S. Starks, Nichols and K. Catchings both helped the Tigers make a comeback but PG was able to secure the win.

Brown led PG with 29 points and Derby put up 15. Hill put up 13 points while White and Johnson both scored eight points.

Starks led JC with 35 points and Nichols added 19 on the board. Shelby also finished with 13.
