Rollover Accident with Fire Seriously Injures One
VICKSBURG, MS – A rollover accident in a single vehicle that then caught fire has seriously injured one person.
Just after 7 p.m. a sedan headed north bound on North Washington left the roadway, took about at least two power poles, rolled over and caught fire. The driver of the vehicle was initially trapped in the vehicle and countless units were rushing to the scene to assist with the harrowing situation.
The accident happened near the entrance to Waltersville where Engine 9 is housed. Engine 9 responded to the accident scene before the call went out about the accident. Eyewitnesses reported the driver was trapped in the vehicle and the vehicle was on fire. The firefighters of Engine 9 were able to remove the driver from the vehicle and put out the fire.

Engine 9, Rescue and Battalion 1 responded to the accident scene. Vicksburg Police were also at the scene.
North Washington was closed at the time of the accident and traffic was turning around. We have no word if the roadway has been reopened. You may want to avoid that route for the next thirty minutes to an hour.
