Smith scored over 40 points to lead PCA over Hillcrest Academy

Porter’s Chapel Academy girl’s basketball team improves to 9-0 after crushing Hillcrest Academy 74-33 on Tuesday.

Jae’la Smith had her second game in a row where she scored over 40 points as she ended the night with 44.

Lauren Madison came away with some tough layups inside the paint while Smith hit a couple of 3-pointers to give PCA a 31-6 first quarter lead. By halftime the Lady Eagles was up 46-13.

The second half was no different for PCA as they enforced a running clock after going up by over 35 points. Emily Muirhead pulled off a few nice layups in the final quarter of play while Marley Bufkin and Smith both hit late 3-pointers.

Smith ended the night with 44 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Madison had 18 points and 14 rebounds while Bufkin added nine points and three assists. Muirhead contributed six points in the win.

Boys:

The boys took a 60-38 loss as Ty Mack led with 17 points. Gavin White put up 10 points while Chase Hearn and Jase Jung finished with four.

PCA will travel to Union Christian on Thursday.
