Vicksburg’s Tess, 7, Gets Special Recognition from Santa for her Kind Acts
VICKSBURG, Miss. – A Vicksburg family’s holiday season was brightened by a surprise act of kindness from their new mail carrier: an early delivery from Santa Claus.
On Tuesday the Wiedenfeld family discovered a mystery package on their porch addressed to their 7-year-old daughter, Tess. At first, Tess’s mom, Amy Wiedenfeld, assumed it might be from a neighbor, but with no gifts for Tess’s two brothers, that seemed unlikely. Curiosity finally got the best of them, and Tess was allowed to open up the mystery gift.
Inside were not only the two things Tess had asked Santa for – a new watch and a Taylor Swift t-shirt, but also a note from St. Nick himself, who assured Tess that their new mail carrier had made sure he had not only gotten her letter, but who had also included a memo telling him how kind and welcoming she had been.
“We have steps going up to our house, so often Tess will go meet her out there when she’s bringing the mail so she doesn’t have to climb those steps,” said the mom. “Tess likes to pick her flowers from the yard and go out and visit when she comes around for her stop.”
Tess,
Your mail lady made
sure that I received the
letter from your mailbox.
She attached a memo
saying so many nice things
about you. Including how
you made her feel welcome
to the neighborhood and her
new mail route by giving
her flowers. She said that
you are the absolute best!
Merry Christmas!
After the early Christmas present, Tess has been leaving notes and a pencil on a chair on the front porch for the two to talk back and forth.
“They’ve kind of got a back and forth going now in this little chair,” said Amy.
