VICKSBURG, MissElevate Church in Vicksburg has purchased the Street Clinic on McAuley Drive and Grove in Vicksburg and is holding a rummage sale.

Pastor Robert Andrews recently announced they have purchased the Street Clinic Building, which was closed in 2015. Andrews and the church board believe the location is a perfect one for the growing church. “There’s a lot of people who have moved out of the city. We want to move in. I know there are needs everywhere but we thought there are needs in the city. We want to be present.” Andrews went on to add that church Technical Director Alvin Foster quipped, “This used to be a medical place and was there to help people physically, now it’s going to be a place to help people spiritually.”

“There’s a lot of work to be done before we can move in,” said Andrews. One of the first tasks to be undertaken is removing all the office equipment left in the building.

Todd Myers puts in the work.

The 47,000 square foot facility is full of equipment left behind from when the clinic closed. Thousands of items are up for sale. They are holding a rummage sale at the Street Clinic tomorrow morning from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. Available for a donation are all manner of office items, hospital items, and household items. Andrews made it clear that “We will accept any reasonable offer. We aren’t looking to make money from this as much as we need to clear the building before we can begin construction.”

Today is a work day at the facility and a large group of church members are at the building moving equipment to the main entrance area. It is packed full of once in a lifetime opportunities.

The Elevate Story

Elevate Church started in 2012 when Pastor Andrews felt led by God to minister to those who don’t fit in a traditional church. He told the story about how he did not fit in at a church and God used that to lead him to found Elevate. “When I left that church, we had some members of that church that I knew weren’t going to go to a traditional church. It would have been the perfect opportunity for me to leave the city, to leave the town. But God told me to stay for them.” Three people specifically. “People with a checkered past and, you know, would probably never walk into a traditional church. We were here for the people who are far from Christ and far from the church. So we’ve just continued that mission.” Those three people are still members of Elevate.

“We started in a BBQ restaurant, Goldie’s BBQ. They were closed on Sundays and they were letting us use their meeting hall. We outgrew that.” After a couple of meetings in other locations they found their current location on Manor Drive, across from Wyatt’s Gym. “We’ve been there for about 11 years and offered to buy that building several times, but they aren’t interested in selling.”

“The Elevate Story hasn’t been without resistance and obstacles, but God has always brought us through. We’re excited about the opportunities and what God is doing and what he is going to do,” said Andrews.

Elevate Church will continue services from their location on Manor Drive, across from Wyatts Gym until the new facility is ready for the church to move in. “We are working and planning on that being the week of Christmas, 2025. ‘Home for Christmas’ is what we’re saying.”
