Vicksburg, Miss. – The July Chamber Luncheon will feature Corey Miller as the keynote speaker on July 17 at 12 p.m. at the Vicksburg Convention Center. Miller is Mississippi’s State Economist and Director of the University Research Center.

“With responsibilities that include economic forecasting, monitoring collections of state general fund revenue, and socio-economic policy analysis, Mr. Miller offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise,” said Kimberly Hillman. “This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into the economic future of our region and understand the factors shaping our local economy.”

Corey Miller, a native Mississippian, earned a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Mississippi State University. He also completed additional Ph.D. courses in economics at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Named State Economist for Mississippi and Director of the University Research Center in November 2020, Miller has over twenty years of experience as an economic researcher. Additionally, his research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed economics journals, specializing in regional economics and agricultural policy.

Before his selection as State Economist, Mr. Miller served as an economic analyst for URC for nearly seven years. Prior to his tenure at IHL, he was a research associate and instructor for twelve years in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Mississippi State University. He and his wife live in Flowood, Mississippi.
