National Telecommunicators Week kicks off on April 14. Vicksburg Warren 911 has several telecommunication professionals who work day and night to keep you safe. This series of articles will highlight each one.

Telecommunicator Cindi Towne McKay Alkhatib is featured in this week’s tribute to our 911 dispatchers, a critical link in the first responder chain.

Cindi Towne McKay Alkhatib has always loved to help people.

She began her career in Public Safety in 1986, working for the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Then, in 1991, Vicksburg Warren 911 was consolidated, and Cindi was one of the first to sit down at a dispatch console. She knew that it was her calling. Cindi has worked as a dispatcher, a lead, a supervisor, at quality assurance, and as a trainer. She can’t imagine working anywhere else.

The 911 staff is unanimous in their praise for Cindi, acknowledging that the operation simply wouldn’t be the same without her.

Since 2014, Cindi has taken on a new role in administration, managing human resources, payroll, and serving as a secretary for the 911 Commission. Her versatility and adaptability are evident in her ability to handle anything that comes her way.

Born in Jackson and raised in Pattison, Cleveland, and Vicksburg, Cindi also finds solace in her love for music and caring for her animals.
