Three separate shots fired incidents Saturday night believed to be connected

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg police are investigating three separate reports of shots fired that occurred Saturday night that are believed to be connected, according to Police Chief Penny Jones.
Just before 9 p.m., between 30 and 40 shots were heard on South Street between First North and Second North. No injuries were reported, but there is believed to be property damage from the incident. A large group of people was on South St. Saturday night when the shots rang out.
Approximately 30 minutes later, while a large contingent of Vicksburg Police Department units were still on South Street, two more gunshots were heard just a few blocks away. Reports indicate those shots were fired near the intersection of Martha and Grammer streets. Officers were seen canvassing the area between Harrison and Bonnelli streets. No injuries were reported at this scene either.
Later that night, around 11 p.m., another report of gunfire came in from the 1200 block of Harrison Street. One report stated hearing an argument followed by gunshots.
Chief Jones confirmed the three incidents are likely related and said detectives are actively pursuing leads.
Anyone with any information regarding these incidents is urged to contact the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511.
