VHS crushed Columbus 7-0 on Monday

Vicksburg, Miss.-The Vicksburg High School girls’ soccer team added another win to their record on Monday night as they shutout Columbus 7-0. The boys took a close 3-2 loss.
Amari Johnson had another outstanding performance where she scored three goals. Kennedy Mullins, Trinity McGloster, Camden McGloster, and Xarier Williams all scored one goal in the win. Johnson, Mullins, Trinity, and Lili Kistler all had assists as well.
“The defense was outstanding as we held Columbus to zero shots on goal,” Head Coach Maurice Gilliam said. “We only beat Columbus 1-0 back in December, so we went back to the drawing board and came up with a new game plan. The ladies executed our game plan to perfection. I’m very proud of them.”
The Gator boys held Columbus down until the last 15 minutes of the game. Allan Allen and Gideon Thomas both scored one goal each while Xavier Williams finished the night with eight saves.
“I’m very proud of their performance,” Gilliam said.
VHS will travel to play against Forest Hill on Friday.
