Vicksburg High School’s baseball team dominated Yazoo City in a thrilling game on Thursday afternoon.

The Gators set the tone early by scoring nine runs in the first inning. Tyler Carter and Braylon Green both hit impressive triples, supported by hits from Mickell Jones and Chris Green. VHS continued to extend their lead in
the third inning, with Braylon Green’s double and Carter’s single adding more runs. The Gators capitalized on Yazoo City’s mistakes, finishing the third inning with a commanding lead of 13-4.

The fourth inning turned into a showcase of the Gators’ prowess, as Kealon Bass’s double and several RBIs from the team widened the gap to 22-4. Yazoo City struggled with errors,
allowing VHS to further pull ahead. Despite Yazoo City’s efforts to rally in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven runs, the score stood at 22-11.

In the fifth inning, Seven West’s double contributed to VHS adding nine more runs through walks and errors, bringing the score to 31-11. Ultimately, the Gators secured a decisive 31-12 victory, with standout performances from players like Braylon Green, who went 3 for 5 with five RBls, and West, who went 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Jones(2 RBIs), Carter(3 RBIs), and Green(3 RBIs) all had two hits each. Bass(3 RBIs) and Kaleb Doss each had one hit while Abel Gonzalez contributed an RBI.

Mickell and Carter both struck out two batters in the win. The Gators will host Terry on Friday.
