BILOXI, Miss.(VDN) — Martin Trey Brown, a Vicksburg native, defeated Bobby Taylor by fourth-round stoppage Friday night in a bare-knuckle bout at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The fight was stopped by a doctor after the fourth round when Taylor was unable to see clearly following repeated punches from Brown. The two fighters previously met in 2021, when Brown also defeated Taylor in a five-round fight. Taylor, who is from Tupelo, Mississippi, remained competitive and showed resilience until the bout was called.

Brown set the tone early in Round 1, landing quick jabs that opened a cut and left Taylor bleeding. Brown ducked Taylor’s swings and connected with several uppercuts, including a shot to the forehead. Taylor managed to land a few punches, but Brown closed the round with a powerful uppercut that knocked Taylor to the canvas with three seconds remaining.

In Round 2, Brown landed early, while Taylor answered with a big punch of his own. Taylor’s eyes were nearly swollen shut as Brown continued to counter with uppercuts. Brown briefly slipped, allowing Taylor to land a punch, and both fighters exchanged aggressively throughout the round.

Taylor worked his way back into the fight in Round 3, but Brown landed several strong shots late in the round, leaving Taylor badly bloodied.

Brown opened Round 4 with a left jab and forced Taylor into the ropes. Taylor appeared fatigued, and doctors checked on him midway through the round. The fight was called before the fifth round due to Taylor’s impaired vision.

Brown paid tribute to his opponent after the bout.

“I want to give a shoutout to Bobby because that dude will take a fight with anybody and every time he comes out he will fight to the literal death,” Brown said.

With the victory, Brown improved to 5-2 in bare-knuckle competition and remains undefeated in boxing.
