Vikings’ season ends after a loss to Grenada

Warren Central’s football season came to an end on Friday after a 24-7 loss to Grenada in the second round of the playoffs.

The Chargers got on the board first from a 18- yard run that put the score at 7-0. They would eventually gain possession of the ball again after Nash Morgan’s pass was picked off.

Larry Reynolds Jr. and TK Qualls made some big stops just before Julien Demby tipped a pass that resulted in an interception by Chance Ward.

The Vikings eventually got in the end zone after Zack Evans returned a 67-yard punt to tie the game at seven with 56 seconds left in the first quarter. Jonah Artman kicked the successful extra point.

Demby made some key stops in the second quarter but the Chargers managed hit a 27-yard field goal to take the 10-7 lead.

A late Viking fumble would put Grenada back in scoring range. The Chargers eventually scored from a short pass to go up 17-7 at halftime.

The second half consisted of WC’s defense continuing to make big stops but the Vikings’ offense struggled to move the ball throughout the night. The Chargers scored again late in the fourth quarter that put the the game out of reach with a final score of 24-7.

The Vikings finished the season with a 9-3 record under Head Coach Josh Morgan who is in his 14th year leading the program.
