VJHS Opened Their Season With a 35-0 Win Over Byram
VICKSBURG, MS. – Vicksburg Junior High School opened their football season with a 35-0 shutout victory over Byram on Tuesday. The game was held at Vicksburg High School where both the offense and defense succeeded throughout the night.
By halftime, the Gators were up 35-0 after a profitable first half. Daylen Atkins was all over the field on both sides of the ball for VJHS. He grabbed two interceptions late in the game and also caught receiving touchdowns thrown by Q. Thomas.
Along with throwing two touchdowns, Thomas also rushed for two touchdowns in the win. Messiah Magee caught a pick 6 as well to put the game out of reach for Byram.
Assistant Coaches Joe Johnson Jr. and Jaylen Whitaker had their debut on the sideline as things went the Gators’ way all night. VJHS is led by Head Coach Larry Carter Jr and they will face Madison Middle School on Tuesday.
