VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A joint training and law enforcement operation with Vicksburg Police Department led to four victims of sex trafficking being recovered in Warren County.
On May 28, 2026, the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office along with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the Alcohol Beverage Commission and VPD, conducted Operation Liberty Shield. Four victims of sex trafficking were recovered in the operation. They were then assisted by the Centers for Violence Prevention.
In addition to the investigation and recovery, training on sex trafficking was provided by the Attorney General’s office. The training provided participants with valuable insights into the complexities of human trafficking investigations. Topics included recognizing indicators of trafficking, victim-centered investigative approaches, intelligence gathering, evidence collection, and collaborative strategies designed to support victims and hold offenders accountable.
Human trafficking remains a significant concern nationwide, often occurring in ways which are difficult to detect. Training opportunities such as this help equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify victims, investigate criminal activity, and work alongside community partners to address these crimes effectively.
“The fight against human trafficking requires education, awareness, and strong partnerships,” said Vicksburg Police Chief Larry Burns. “We are grateful to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office for facilitating this important training and to the agencies from across the state that participated. Together, we are strengthening our collective ability to protect vulnerable individuals and pursue those responsible for these crimes.”
