Warren Central High School football team advances to the second round of the playoffs after beating Saltillo 46-19.

“We came out and dominated like we needed to and we’re going to keep this up headed into next so we can reach our destination which is a state championship,” Zack Evans said.

Larry Reynolds Jr. came out and laid a lick on on the Tigers’ running back. WC would get on the board first a blocked punt in the end zone by Mike Hill that resulted in a safety.

As the Vikings made their way down the field, Eric Collins Jr. took it in the end zone for an 18-yard score. Jonah Artman kicked the successful extra point.

Saltillo came out successfully running the ball but attempted a pass where Julien Demby came up with the interception. A few plays later Nash Morgan connected with Zack Evans for a 72-yard touchdown to put the score at 16-0.

TK Qualls and Ronnie Blossom made some big defensive stops on the line of scrimmage which gave the ball back to WC. Just before the end of the first quarter Ryan Nelson broke out on a 25-yard scramble that set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Aden Greer.

The second quarter was no different than the first for WC as Collins scored from a 76-yard run and Artman hit a 39-yard field goal while Ryan Nelson hit Teryn Green for a 40-yard touchdown. Saltillo scored from a long pass just shortly before halftime and WC led  46-6.

The second half consisted of a running clock where Saltillo was able to get on the board two more times before WC took the 46-19 win.

The Vikings will host Grenada on Friday
