WC defeats VHS last night in a 12-2 win

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s baseball team traveled across town Tuesday night and came away with a 12-2 win over Vicksburg High School. The victory improved the Vikings’ record to 15-9 as the playoffs approach.
Wild pitches brought in the first two runs for Warren Central as Blake Caruthers and Caden Cole scored. The Vikings added six more runs in the second inning after Lester Martin and Tristan (two-run) hit doubles, and Caruthers hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Maddox Lynch to score.
By the end of the third inning, Warren Central led 8-0 after Trace Hood and Caruthers scored on walks. Hood hit a double in the fourth, and Lynch soon scored on a passed ball before Cole hit an RBI single. Ryan Steed capped the scoring for the Vikings with a two-run home run, making it 12-0.
Vicksburg got on the board late, with Allan Allen hitting an RBI single and Kaleb Doss scoring on a passed ball.
For Warren Central, Jamison (two RBIs) and Cole (one RBI) both had two hits. Hood (one RBI), Martin (one RBI), and Steed (three RBIs) had one hit apiece. Caruthers recorded two RBIs.
Nathaniel Moore pitched a complete game for the Vikings, striking out six in the 12-2 win.
For Vicksburg, Mincer Minor IV, Doss, and Allen each had one hit. Mickell Jones struck out two batters and Doss struck out one.
The teams will meet again Saturday at Warren Central.
