Warren Central High School’s baseball team emerged victorious with an 8-5 win over Starkville on Saturday.

The game kicked off with a strong start as Conner Watkins drew a walk, allowing the Vikings to take an early lead. Cade Fairley then contributed with an RBI in the second inning,
extending the lead to 2-0. However, Starkville quickly responded with a run of their own in the second inning, making it 2-1.

As the game progressed, both teams fought fiercely, and by the end of the fourth inning, the score was tied at 2-2. In the fifth inning, Cole Aurtrey’s RBI and Nathaniel Moore’s walk propelled WC back into the lead. Hayes Loper’s
powerful two-run single further widened the gap to 6-2. Despite Starkville earning a run with a triple, WC maintained a solid 6-3 lead.

Maddox Lynch and Watkins showcased strong performances in the sixth inning, setting up an RBI opportunity for Lester Martin. Lynch’s double in the seventh inning sealed the victory for WC with the final score at 8-5.

Lynch went 3 for 4(1 RBI) at the plate while Fairley(1 RBI) ended the day with two hits. Moore(1 RBI), Martin(1 RBI), Watkins(1 RBI) and Loper(2 RBIs) all had one hit.

On the pitching front, Lynch struck out three batters, supported by Moore’s additional strikeout.

With this win, the Vikings (3-3) are gearing up to face Jackson Prep in an away game on Tuesday.
