Crime statistics year to date 2025 Jan to May

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department released crime statistics for the months of April and May in this morning’s city board meeting. For year to date numbers for 2025, the statistics show a continued prevalence of domestic violence and a notable number of auto burglaries across the city, specifically unsecured vehicles.

From January through May, Vicksburg reported:

  • 1 murder or manslaughter case
  • 103 domestic violence incidents
  • 28 aggravated assaults
  • 6 robberies
  • 13 business burglaries
  • 24 residential burglaries
  • 68 auto burglaries, with 45 of those involving unsecured vehicles
  • 17 auto thefts
  • 4 reported rapes (all statutory)
  • 1 carjacking
  • No reported kidnappings

Domestic violence remains the city’s most reported violent crime, peaking in May with 26 incidents. Auto burglaries were highest in January and April, with a large majority involving unlocked vehicles.

The only homicide reported in the first half of the year was the March 11 death of 19-year-old Quincy Peoples.

Meanwhile, business burglaries saw a spike in April, and carjackings—typically rare—were reported for the first time in May.

The Vicksburg Police Department continues to encourage residents to secure their vehicles, report suspicious activity, and engage with local crime prevention programs.
