Vicksburg teen killed in armed robbery; two suspects charged with capital murder

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A 19-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night during an armed robbery involving a felony amount of narcotics, according to Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones. Two suspects have been arrested and face multiple charges, including capital murder.
Before midnight on March 11, officers responded to a reported shooting near Locust and Jefferson streets. Upon arrival, they found 19-year-old Quincy Peoples suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported by ambulance for medical treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
Shortly after, E911 dispatch notified officers that two additional gunshot victims had arrived at the hospital.
Suspects and Charges
Both suspects stood before Judge Penny Lawson and received the following charges:
Tyler Terry, of Canton, has been charged with:
- Capital murder ($750,000 bond)
- Two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon ($150,000 bond each)
- Armed robbery ($150,000 bond)
Javien Shannon, of Jackson, has been charged with:
- Capital murder ($750,000 bond)
- Two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon ($100,000 bond each)
- Armed robbery ($100,000 bond)
- Possession of a stolen firearm ($25,000 bond)

Jones said investigators are pursuing additional suspects in connection with the robbery and expect to make more arrests.
“If you want to look at it in a way, if you rob a bank, and your friend is sitting in the car with the engine running waiting for you to come out, both of you are going to get charged with the same thing,” Jones said.
The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Vicksburg Police Department.
