VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg High School will host Ridgeland on Friday night in a matchup of two undefeated teams. Both enter the contest with 2-0 records.

The schools last met in the 2024 regular-season finale, when Ridgeland won 42-22. The Titans finished 6-5 that season, while Vicksburg went winless.

The Gators, however, have bounced back this fall. They opened with a 14-8 defensive battle at Natchez and then rolled past Forest Hill 48-12 in their home opener. Ridgeland beat Mendenhall 21-13 in its opener and downed Provine 42-20 last week.

Both teams have leaned on the running game, but Vicksburg also showed its ability to pass in last week’s win.

Friday’s game carries added intrigue because of the coaches. Ridgeland’s Todd McDaniel was Vicksburg’s head coach from 2020 to 2022, with current Gators coach Christopher Lacey serving as his defensive coordinator. Together, they led VHS to the North State championship game in 2022 — the program’s first appearance in two decades.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
