Skooter Wells selected to coach in MSA All-Star Game
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Skooter Wells, a Vicksburg native, has been selected to coach in the Magnolia Sports Association All-Star Game. Wells will serve as the wide receivers coach in the MSA Future Elite Game, an opportunity he says is both exciting and meaningful for his development.
“It feels good to be coaching in the All-Star Game, and it’ll definitely help me build my coaching résumé,” Wells said.
A 2014 graduate of Vicksburg High School, Wells played under former VHS Head Coach Tavares Johnson Sr. During his senior season, he was a standout on the Gators’ defense, recording 130 tackles and 12 sacks. His performance earned him All-District honors as VHS finished the year with a 6-6 record.
Wells has remained heavily involved in local football since graduation. He currently coaches at both Vicksburg High School and Vicksburg Junior High School. At the junior high level, he works with the offensive line and special teams, while at the high school he assists with the linebackers. Wells is now in his fourth year as an assistant coach within the Gators’ program.
In addition to his school coaching roles, Wells has spent the past decade coaching with the Warren County Ravens, a youth football organization that has captured multiple championships under his guidance. His long-term commitment to developing young athletes has made him a familiar and respected figure in Warren County’s football community.
The MSA All-Star Game is scheduled for Nov. 30 at East Central Community College, where Wells will have the chance to showcase his coaching skills on a wider stage.
