VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren Central High School freshmen boys’ basketball team advanced to the semifinals Monday night with a 65-44 victory over Ridgeland, continuing an undefeated run and moving one step closer to a championship season.

The Vikings set the tone early, jumping out to a 16-2 lead in the opening quarter. Jarrad Williams sparked the fast start by knocking down a 3-pointer, while Jordan Taylor added a pair of baskets as Warren Central’s defense limited Ridgeland’s scoring opportunities. The Vikings carried that momentum into the second quarter and went into halftime with a 27-13 advantage after Ja’Ven Lee connected on a 3-pointer late in the half.

Warren Central put the game out of reach in the third quarter behind a strong offensive surge from Braylen Selvy. Selvy scored consistently during the period as the Vikings widened the margin and maintained control for the remainder of the contest.

Selvy finished with a team-high 19 points to lead Warren Central. Williams followed with 13 points, while Taylor contributed nine. Lee added eight points in the win, and Jordan Younger and Cameron Zellous each chipped in six points. Doss Morgan rounded out the scoring with four points.

With the victory, the Vikings remained unbeaten and secured their spot in the semifinals, keeping their championship hopes alive as the postseason continues.
