Fugitive wanted out of Texas was captured in Port Gibson

Press Release issued from the Port Gibson Police Department:
PORT GIBSON, Miss.(VDN) — On Saturday, the Port Gibson Police Department received credible intelligence indicating that Latavien Manning, a fugitive wanted out of Dallas, Texas, was within the city limits of Port Gibson, Mississippi. Mr. Manning had been on the run for approximately six months and was wanted in connection with aggravated assault with a firearm.

Upon receiving this information, a surveillance operation to confirm Mr. Manning’s location and ensure the safety of our officers and the public. Following confirmation, officers moved in to take Mr. Manning into custody on today, the 4th day of January 2026. Officer Johnson, Officer White, and Chief Dorsey were able to take Mr. Manning into custody without incident. No injuries were reported, and the arrest was conducted safely and professionally.

Mr. Manning is currently being held in custody and is awaiting extradition to Dallas, Texas, where he will face the charges against him.

This arrest demonstrates the importance of interagency cooperation, timely intelligence, and proactive policing.
