Domestic violence claims two lives in Vicksburg on Monday
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A domestic violence incident claimed two lives Monday morning on South Street in Vicksburg, where police discovered the bodies of a man and a woman inside a home.
Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded just before noon to a welfare check at a residence in the 1300 block of South Street. The front door was open when officers arrived, and they entered the home and found two bodies inside a bedroom. It appears the incident was a murder-suicide between a husband and wife.
Vicksburg Police Chief Larry Burns told the Vicksburg Daily News that the deceased are a male and a female who share the same last name. Burns said there is no known history of domestic violence associated with the address.
Police said the incident appears to be isolated and there is no threat to the public. The deceased have been identified as 51-year-old Adam Reed and 52-year-old Daphine Reed.
The investigation remains ongoing.
