VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department released the February and March crime statistics to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen at the regular meeting held Monday, April 20.
For the period of time consisting of the two months, the department logged a total of 3,236 calls, filed 975 reports, made 344 arrests, issued 230 warrants, gave 237 citations, submitted six warnings and distributed 12 DUI’s.
There was only one murder charge during the period which occurred in February.
No manslaughter or rape charges were reported during the two months.
There were two robbery charges; one occurring in February and the other in March.
Aggravated assault cases came in at a total of 11 with five happening in February and six in March.
One one case of business burglary was recorded in the month of February while four were reported in March; however, six residential burglary cases happened in February while four were recorded in March.
During the month of February, there were 14 auto burglaries reported: five from secured vehicles, seven from unsecured vehicles, and two unknown cases. A total of 11 were reported for the month of March: eight from unsecured vehicles and three unknown.
During the two months there were a total of 10 auto thefts: three in February and seven in March; however, there were no carjackings reported during the time period.
There was only one case of kidnapping reported occurring in March.
There were a total of 42 cases of domestic violence reported with 21 occurring in each month.
