Trio of softball stars help teach at St. Al Camp
Nearly 40 kids showed up to softball camp at St. Aloysius

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
Three standout softball players came together this week to help teach the next generation at the St. Aloysius softball camp.

Abigail Morgan, Liza Gregg and Kayleigh Karel spent the week working with young athletes at the camp, helping them improve their softball skills while also sharing their knowledge and love for the game.
Morgan and Karel are both 2023 graduates of Warren Central High School, where they starred under Head Coach Dana McGivney.
Morgan led the pitching instruction during Wednesday’s camp activities. After her standout career at Warren Central, she continued playing at the University of Memphis and the University of Southern Mississippi.
“We were just out teaching them the basics and allowing them to see if they love the game or not,” Morgan said. “We also went more in depth for the girls who’ve been doing lessons and have more knowledge of the game.”
Karel, who signed with East Central Community College after graduating from Warren Central, focused on hitting instruction during the camp.
“I was helping them learn the basics of softball, but overall I love teaching little girls and teaching them things beyond softball,” Karel said.
Gregg, a Cathedral High School graduate, recently completed her freshman season at Millsaps College. The catcher finished the year with 25 hits and 17 RBIs and worked with the catchers at the camp.
“I played for Coach Mike last summer and he called and asked me to help out, so I’m happy to give back to him,” Gregg said.
Nearly 40 campers attended the camp this week under the direction of St. Aloysius Head Coach Mike Foley. Members of the Lady Flashes softball team also assisted with teaching and drills throughout the week.
