A Warren County man, Willie Smith, has been sentenced to five years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. His sentence includes three years to serve in the Mississippi Department of Corrections due to past convictions.

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
A Warren County man has been sentenced to five years in prison for failure to register as a sex offender.
Willie Smith, 67, was sentenced by Warren County Circuit Judge James Chaney to five years, with three years to serve in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Assistant District Attorney Liem Walker prosecuted the case, while Smith was represented by defense attorney Patrick Beasley.
Smith was charged in 2025 after the Warren County Sheriff’s Office was notified that his ankle monitor had not been charged for approximately four days. He was arrested in January 2026.
Smith is required to register as a sex offender because of a 1979 rape conviction in Warren County.
