Choctaw Central defeated top-ranked Raymond on Tuesday

Choctaw Central High School boys’ basketball team defeated top-ranked Raymond 60-57 on Tuesday.

The Ranger took a 15-13 lead after Mekhi Strong put up nine points in the quarter alone. By halftime, CC had a 29-26 lead once Jayce Sam added eight on the board.

The second half continued to be a back and forth game as Eric Paymon Jr. stepped up and finished with 19 points on the night for Raymond. Alan John Jr. and Sam both knocked down a couple of 3-pointers late in the game to help Warriors take the win.

Koie Williams and Sam both put up 14 points for CC while John led with 15 in the win. Zylier Clemons added seven points.

Strong led the Rangers with 22 points and Paymon brought in 19. Keymarius Lewis also scored 15.

CC is coached by Delvin Thompson and the Rangers are led by Tony Tadlock.
