Free Popcorn Returns with Ghostbusters at the Strand

VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Strand Theatre will host a viewing of 1984’s blockbuster hit: Ghostbusters on Saturday, August 3 at 7 p.m, and free popcorn. The Strand is located in downtown Vicksburg at 717 Clay Street.

“Ghostbusters,” a 1984 supernatural comedy directed by Ivan Reitman, became a cultural phenomenon with its unique blend of humor and horror. Starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, the film follows a group of eccentric parapsychologists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City. The film’s innovative special effects, catchy theme song by Ray Parker Jr., and memorable performances contributed to its critical and commercial success. Grossing nearly $300 million worldwide, “Ghostbusters” spawned a franchise including sequels, animated series, and reboots, solidifying its place in pop culture history.

The Strand Theatre opened in downtown Vicksburg in 1934 and closed in the early 1960s. Now the Westside Theatre Foundation presents live theater, films, concerts and all manner of arts programming.

Advance tickets are available for $9 at Highway 61 Coffeehouse. Tickets at the door will be $10.
