Grand Gulf Tournament Winners Donate to Jacob's Ladder

VICKSBURG, Miss. – The winners of 2024’s Grand Gulf Annual Charity Golf Tournament back in May chose Jacob’s Ladder as the the recipient of the winnings. The money, totaling $2,830.50, was awarded in a ceremony at Jacob’s Ladder last Wednesday.

Jacob’s Ladder is a program that provides services to adults with functional and support needs in Warren County. The program teaches life and social skills.

On site to present the check were the winning foursome. The team consisted of John Steverson, Andy Steverson, Larry Savell, and Meredith Spencer.

“I’ve known about Jacob’s Ladder for a long time and am really close with some of the graduates,” said Meredith Spencer, Grand Gulf employee and member of the winning team, “I just love what they are doing for the students and the community.”

In July 1985, Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, Miss., made history by becoming the first and only nuclear power plant to produce electricity in Mississippi. The nuclear plant marked another milestone by completing a power upgrade June 16, 2012. Grand Gulf is the largest single-unit nuclear power plant in the country and 11th largest in the world. Today, the is the most affordable source of electricity in Mississippi.
