James “David” Brewer: 1962-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — James “David” Brewer passed away on April 18, 2025. He was 63 years old.
James “David” Brewer was raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he attended Vicksburg High School. There, he participated in soccer, softball, football and band. He worked as a tugboat pilot for most of his life and was employed at the Kings Point Ferry. He enjoyed fishing, singing and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Watson-Brewer; daughter, Brittany Brewer; stepsons, Robert Watson and Buster Watson; son, Zachary Rowland; and brother, Michael Brewer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis “Marilyn” Brewer, and his father, James “Jim” Brewer.
Honorary pallbearers are Hayden Steadman, Tim Hunter, Randy Stewart, Billy Stewart and Brandon Hamilton.
Visitation for James “David” Brewer will be held at Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church on May 3 from 3 to 4 p.m., followed by a memorial service from 4 to 5 p.m. After the service, family and friends will gather at the Klondyke to enjoy his favorite music.
