Joseph Williams of Rocket Cab announces his candidacy for Ward One Alderman

In a statement emailed to the Vicksburg Daily News, local businessman and owner of Rocket Cab, John Williams announced his candidacy for the position of Ward One Alderman.

Here is the email:

“It is my wish that you be the first to know that on this date April 1, 2024, I officially submitted my Candidacy application to be placed on the ballot for the Ward 1 Alderman.

The Special Election is scheduled on May 9, 2024, and all applications are to be submitted 20 days before the election day which is April 19, 2024. My fear is many residents do not know
where to cast their vote. This is due to the fact that Wards 1 and 2 were redistricted in the Year 2022, and many residents are still unaware as to where to cast their vote.

Additionally, there may be some residents who signed the petition which is required to apply and qualify, may be purged. Therefore, I obtained 70 names versus the 50 names of registered
voters. In the event it is determined that additional names are required because from the list of 70 voters obtained, some may no longer be registered, I will have an opportunity to acquire signatures of registered voters, thus preventing the risk of my name not being placed on the ballot.”
