Mississippi State University Hosts Culinary Arts Kids Camp

Mississippi State University is offering an exciting opportunity for young people to learn about local foods, kitchen basics, and easy recipes at the upcoming Culinary Arts Kids Camp. This hands-on, weeklong day camp is hosted by the MSU Extension Service and the Department of Food Science, Nutrition, and Health Promotion.

The camp is open to rising 4th-6th graders from June 17-21 and to rising 7th-12th graders from June 24-28. Each session runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Participants will explore new foods and flavors, develop culinary skills, use reading and math for recipes, and learn the importance of food safety. Topics covered include food safety, bread, fruits and vegetables, sweet treats, dairy products, kitchen utensils, knife skills, and measuring with math.
