Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to host Carter G. Woodson Centennial Honors Brunch recognizing Trailblazing Community Leaders
Vicksburg, Miss.(VDN) — The Eta Tau and Eta Chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will host the Brother Carter G. Woodson Centennial Honors Brunch on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Alcorn State University in the Gold Room.
The event commemorates 100 years of Black History Week/Month, established in 1926 by historian and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc member Dr. Carter G. Woodson.
This centennial celebration will recognize distinguished African American leaders from Warren, Claiborne, and Jefferson Counties whose service has shaped education, law, public safety, government, and community development. Among this year’s honorees are individuals who were the first African Americans to serve in key leadership roles within their respective communities, as well as others whose decades of leadership and public service have left a lasting impact.

- Senator Albert Butler
- Sheriff Frank Davis (Retired)
- Judge E. Vincent Davis
- Mr. Evan Doss, Jr.
- Honorable George Flaggs,Jr.
- Dr. Burnell Harris
- Judge Tomika H. Irving
- Dr. Charles Shepphard
- Commissioner Willie Simmons
- Commissioner De’Keither Stamps
- Judge Toni Walker Terrett
- Dr. Samuel L. White, Sr.
“These leaders did more than serve in office — they strengthened institutions, expanded opportunity, and helped open doors for future generations,” said event chairman, Bro. Alton Butler.
Dr. David Marion, Ph.D., 41st Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will serve as the Centennial keynote speaker. Proceeds from the event will support educational initiatives, scholarships, and community programming.
