One Shot on Washington Street

VICKSBURG, MS – One person has been shot in their vehicle while riding down Washington Street.

One person was shot while riding down Washington Street near the entrance to Waterview Casino. The incident happened just after 1 a.m. near the entrance to the casino. The person was struck in the lower body and was not believed to be seriously injured. Currently there is no information on what led up to the shooting or who else is involved.

Washington Street is currently blocked off while investigators treat the scene as a crime scene.

Numerous units with the Vicksburg Police Department, a unit from the Vicksburg Fire Department and a Fire Medic unit were at the scene.

We currently have no word when the roadway will be opened.

There have been several reports of shots fired earlier in the evening in the 3000 block of Washington Street. Witnesses as far as downtown reported hearing up to 7 shots in that earlier incident. There are no reports of injury from the earlier shots fired call.
