One trapped under vehicle in Vicksburg

At about 8 p.m. a call came in reporting one person was trapped under a vehicle on James E. Stirgus.

Numerous units with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the scene along with Rescue, Engine 7, Engine 6, and FireMedic 30. Rescue, paramedics and EMTs worked to assist the individual who was under the vehicle. Once they had them from under the vehicle they moved them to a backboard and loaded them onto the ambulance. Medical helicopters were not available for over an hour so the medic unit transferred the person to a Jackson area hospital.

The driver of the vehicle indicated they had dropped the person off and thought they had gone around the vehicle. When they backed up the vehicle trapped the person under the back passenger tire.

There is no official word on the condition of the person who was trapped, but their situation is grave.
