Porter’s Chapel Academy’s baseball team put on an impressive performance on Thursday with a convincing 13-3 victory over Tensas
Academy.

The Chiefs jumped ahead with a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but PCA quickly responded when John Wyatt Massey smashed a home run to put them on the scoreboard. Tensas Academy added another run in the third inning, but the Eagles fought back to tie the game at 3-3 in the fourth thanks to RBIs from Chase Hearn and Gavin White, with Massey hitting a double and Thomas Azlin delivering a single in the same inning.

PCA seized control of the game in the fourth inning, with Massey hitting a triple and Hearn and Taylor LaBarre both connecting for two-run doubles, extending their lead to 9-3. With the run rule in effect, the game was called after the sixth inning as the Eagles held a commanding 13-3 lead following some defensive errors by Tensas Academy.

Massey had a flawless performance at the plate, going 4 for 4 with two RBIs. Hearn (5 RBls) and Azlin contributed with two hits each, while LaBarre chipped in with one hit and two RBls.
White also recorded an RBI during the game.

Hearn displayed strong pitching on the mound, tallying seven strikeouts in the victory, while Massey added five strikeouts during his time pitching.

Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to take the field again on Saturday for their next game against O’Bannon and Pelahatchie.
