PCA opened up their postseason with a win

Porter’s Chapel Academy had a successful start to their postseason with wins for both their boys and girls basketball teams on Thursday night.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Eagles maintained their unbeaten record, improving to 17-0, with a commanding 73-17 victory over Prairie View
Academy. Jae’la Smith had an exceptional performance, scoring 20 points in the second quarter alone and finishing the game with 37 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and five
assists. Lauren Madison recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Sophie Masterson also achieved a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, including a couple of 3-pointers. Marley Bufkin
contributed five points and Emily Muirhead hit a 3-pointer to round off the team’s impressive performance. As the top-ranked team, the Lady Eagles are geared up for the upcoming South
State tournament.

Boys:

In the boys’ game, PCA secured a dominant 80-40 victory over River Oaks Academy. Gavin White stood out with five successful 3-pointers,
resulting in 21 points for him. Ty Mack also scored 21 points and made four rebounds. Schaffer Bell added nine points, Chase Hearn scored seven, and Taylor LaBarre contributed three points. Tyler Halter hit a 3-pointer in
the third quarter, Jase Jung finished with three points, and Nathan Austin scored two points for the team. With this win, the boys’ team advances to the South State tournament, whose
official schedule will be released on Saturday night.
