RCEC student selected to participate in MS Governor’s School

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Erion Wilson, an upcoming senior at River City Early College (RCEC), was recently selected to participate in the 44th cohort of the Mississippi Governor’s School, that took place June 1–14, 2025, at Mississippi University for Women.
During the two week program, Wilson was also selected as a member of the student council.
Wilson was chosen for his outstanding academic record and demonstrated potential in intellectual, creative, and leadership pursuits. He is the son of Lakendria Tucker and Eric Wilson Sr.
Throughout his time at River City Early College, Wilson has earned numerous honors, including the Tammy Burris-Smith Award, the Cougar Award, highest average in leadership, and Honor Scholar distinction. He has also been recognized for his commitment to community service.
In addition to his academic achievements, Wilson is an active member of the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary Crown Club, Key Club, and Musical Theatre.
With aspirations of becoming a psychiatrist, Wilson plans to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing before continuing to medical school.
Established in 1981 by former Governor William F. Winter, the Mississippi Governor’s School is a prestigious residential honors program designed to challenge and inspire high-achieving high school juniors and seniors. Participants engage in rigorous academic, creative, and leadership development experiences alongside their peers from across the state.
