Rivalry Week: WC vs. VHS happening on Friday
The game everyone has been waiting for is quickly approaching as Warren Central and Vicksburg High School are set to meet on the football field this Friday.
The Vikings hold a 4-2 record after defeating Ridgeland 38-6 on Friday, where they controlled the clock by successfully running the ball.
The Gators also stand at 4-2 this year after narrowly losing to Neshoba Central 21-20 on Friday. Ronnie Alexander, DeCorey Knight Jr., and Tyler Henderson all stepped up to make big plays in a game determined in the final two minutes.
In 2022, WC eked out a 20-18 win over VHS, but this year the rivalry promises to be even more intense since both teams are now in the same district.
Both the Gators and Vikings boast true athletes poised to deliver an exciting show on Friday night.
The game will be held at WC, with the Vikings led by Head Coach Josh Morgan, who has only lost to VHS twice in his 14-year head coaching tenure. Christopher Lacey, in his first year as head coach of VHS, faces the challenge of ending the Gators’ losing streak against WC.
This matchup is one of the biggest rivalries in the state. Their recent encounters have been too close to call. Either team could secure the win, and the action kicks off this Friday night.
